At the Intersection of Race, Gender, and Social Class:
AAPI Women Resist Invisibility
Monday, May 17, 2021
1 pm pst/4 pm est
We are observing May as AAPI Heritage Month in the midst of ongoing anti-Asian racism, which requires us to both hold celebration and consternation at the same time. An intersectional discussion on the experiences of AAPI women thus feels especially needed, as it is through the prism of race, gender, and social class that best helps us to make sense of painful events like the Atlanta shooting in March.
In this webinar, Drs. Susana Lowe, Shruti Mukkamala, and Phi Loan Le will outline a historical and contextual look at the lived experiences of AAPI women; research on racialized sexism and gendered racism for AAPI women; and clinical implications to honor and foster resilience of AAPI women who have been resisting oppression and invisibility.
Please register in advance at us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_-tUb9BOTS-Cps_QxsGp2Vw.
